Come discover the Museum! The Musée du Malgré-Tout is a regional archaeology museum founded in 1984, managed by the non-profit organization Cedarc (Centre for Archaeological Studies and Documentation), and recognized since 2009 as a Category A museum by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Its permanent collections showcase archaeological remains, ranging from Prehistory to the end of Antiquity, from the region where it is located, the south of Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse. Archaeology in a more general way is approached through its gallery of the evolution of Humanities and their techniques but also through its temporary exhibitions with rich and varied themes. In its rooms, but also in its hunter-gatherer park, the museum welcomes its visitors – from the youngest age – in an educational, didactic and inclusive manner. Permanent exhibition Did you know that traces of the presence of Neanderthals have been found in Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse? Indeed, a 46,000-year-old child's tooth is the oldest evidence of human presence in the region, and it is on display at the museum! What animals did humans encounter or hunt? What were their tools? How did the Gallo-Romans live? What were their funeral practices? In a room completely renovated in 2021 , you will find all the answers to the questions you have always asked yourself. Among the objects presented are a complete skeleton of a cave lion, a very fine set of Gallic vases, a statue of a Celtic god, Gallo-Roman jewelry, monetary treasures, and two complete late-Roman burial tombs with very rich furnishings. Also of note: the exceptional reconstruction of a Roman roof from 150 flat and round tiles from the period, from excavations at local sites.   Gallery of Evolution The collections have also been expanded by permanent deposits and donations made by individuals and local associations. Our former casting workshop also made it possible to reproduce a number of exceptional pieces illustrating the evolution of Humanities and their techniques in our gallery of the evolution of Humanities and techniques in Prehistory.   Prehistory Park Our permanent exhibition, also at the back of the museum! Dive into the heart of prehistory by exploring our archaeological park! Discover faithful reconstructions of prehistoric dwellings, scenes from life, and period tools. A fascinating immersion to understand the daily lives of our ancestors throughout the ages.   Temporary Exhibition Since 1984, the Musée du Malgré-Tout has organized two temporary exhibitions each year, exploring a variety of themes in archaeology and history. These exhibitions offer visitors the opportunity to discover fascinating discoveries and unique perspectives on our past.

Come and see the "Chemin de Fer à Vapeur des 3 Vallées," one of the nicest Museum lines in Europe. Go back in time on board a real steam train and travel through the "Three Valleys" with their amazing landscapes. Leaving from Mariembourg the train goes to Nismes, Olloy/Viroin and Vierves, before reaching Treignes, the terminus of our journey and also the last station before the French frontier. Bikes and Wheelchairs can be carried. Come and see our Bar/Dining car. On reservation we can organise special celebration meals throughout the year. Located at the entrance of the village of Treignes, Espace Arthur Masson has rehabilitated the 3 old schools of the village. One houses an audioguided audioguided show that traces life in the Ardennes from the 30s to the 60s through 11 stages. In another, you can admire the reconstruction of a class of 1932 and revive an old-fashioned class. In the latter, you can enjoy a good local dish and enjoy a good "Toine", a local beer and take home products.

Explore the Viroin Valley during our guided vintage e-bike rides. This activity is recommended for family groups. Qualities and advantages: This activity can be practiced from 12 years old and up to 77 years old; The walk is guided; The saddle has a very large seat which, for some models, allows a child to accompany you; The power of the batteries makes the ride accessible to anyone young or old; Easy access parking; Beverage / snack vending machines; The start of a small luna-park, called Lunatich; Scooters and Segways are also available for hire for a short ride; -> at the end of the walk, the women say they don't have sore buttocks (lol)

On June 6th, 1940 Hitler disembarked. Surrounded by his staff, he directed the campaign of France from this place he had himself called the "Ravine du Loup". Today, the site still houses the remains of its passage. Two pavilions were rebuilt similar to those of 1940. In the first, many vintage photos and DVD movies (FR / NL / GB). Nearby a second pavilion commemorates the resistance led by the group D Hotton service. Finally, in the park built in 40 by an architect, visitors will discover the imposing bunker.
